Welcome. This is a site where I post notes, short essays, videos, reviews and articles, primarily connected to and emerging from my research, writing and teaching. There is also always the opportunity for you to leave comments and I hope that you will.
I am an art historian and queer theorist, and author of two monographs: The Decision Between Us: art and ethics in the time of scenes; and The Logic of the Lure (see the “Books” section of the blog for further information). The latter was the first single-authored publication to bring together queer theory and art history. I am currently working on a third monograph, The Intimacy of the Outside. In 2015-16 I held the post of Chancellor Jackman Faculty Research Fellow at the Jackman Humanities Institute, where I worked on a separate research project on “The Collective Afterlife of Things” (see a post below from January 2015 for further details). In spring 2016, I launched a new collaborative research working group on “Sex, Ethics, and Publics.” Please check back for regular updates on this and all of my other projects.
I am Full Professor at the University of Toronto, where I teach courses and supervise students in Art History, Visual Culture, Comparative Literature, and Religious Studies.
